Was listening to a Thrift Shop remake, they used Freak instead of Fuck. I turned it off.

It's weird when they just have nothing.

That was ...

....

.... awesome

Replacing words is better than what the local rock station has started doing. They're actually cutting incomplete sections of the music out. As a music nerd, this confuses and infuriates me. Here's an example (just a little sample)

Tool - Sober (chorus)

Jesus, won't you fucking whistle
Something but the past is done?
Jesus, won't you fucking whistle
Something but the past is done?

The radio plays it as

Jesus, won't you whistle
Something but the past is done?
Jesus, won't you whistle
Something but the past is done?

They don't bleep, don't mute, but take that word (and its beat) out of the song. This makes the song incomplete and impossible to keep time. Another example from Clear Channel's "great ideas!" department - replacing parts of a song that has expletives with another part from the song. Take Finger Eleven's Paralyzer . This is the first few lines of the first verse, unadulterated, followed by the first few lines of the second.

I hold on so nervously
To me and my drink
I wish it was cooling me
But so far, has not been good
It’s been shitty
And I feel awkward, as I should

...

I hold out for one more drink
Before I think
I’m looking too desperately
But so far has not been fun
I should just stay home
If one thing really means one

What Clear Channel has taken to doing, is inserting a line from the second verse to get rid of the expletive in the first. Turns out to be

I hold on so nervously
To me and my drink
I wish it was cooling me
But so far, has not been good
has not been fun
And I feel awkward, as I should

Not only does the line not make sense anymore, but since they stole the line from a different position in the music, it doesn't sound complete at all. It's destroying the music. They need to be stopped.

I'd much rather hear the f....k or s...t or even f.... or sh.... because then at least i can insert it myself when I am singing in my car embarrassingly loud.

Exactly what I came here to post. My kids listen to that disc constantly. Drives my nucking futs!

^^ See that! That's what all the censoring is doing to me!

I'd have to offer my kids some kind of candy/ice cream/whatever buyout in exchange for never listening to a Kidz Bop album again.

I almost miss the days when they'd reverse the words. One of my fondest memories (and something that still gets a giggle from me) is a line from Rage Against The Machine's cover of Cypress Hill's How I Could Just Kill A Man (because I'm more fond of RATM's version):
